High Point Market: Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things…

From my time at High Point Market

The selections were endless at Modus Furniture! We saw a lot, the showroom was HUGE, but my favorite thing from there had to be their headboards and skirted benches. While they do not offer a variety of colors, they do what they do really well, and these beds and benches look so custom and will add a tailored element to any room. Not to be missed!

Everything at David Michael Furniture is imported from Italy and refurbished, or created in-house, based on inspiration and pieces they’ve scouted in their travels abroad. I was instantly drawn to a kitchen island that looked as though it hailed from a time gone by, but functioned as brand new. The details were timeless, the wood finishes were perfectly patina, and the ability for customization made the process feel like a real treat. Whether it be a historic home or a brand new kitchen that needs some character, this island is near perfection. Truly incredible.

Music to an interior designer's ears, 95% in stock!! Not only did I fall in love with Jamie Young Co.’s coastal, yet modern feel, I fell in love with the people and their commitment to serving their customers. They have everything from art and lighting to furniture and decor. I’m a sucker for a show-stopping pendant, so of course their imperial pendant was my favorite thing from their showroom (pictured above on the right). Although finished with black and geometrically-shaped, I love that there is still a warmth to it. Truly beautiful and was another piece I could’ve taken home with me!

American Leather was a truly special place. The showroom was unbelievable and we got a lovely visit from the CEO herself, Veronica Schnitzius. All of their leather and furniture is made right in the US and from conception to completion they have set the standard in the industry for custom furniture. My pick was one of their original sofas styles that just got a revamp. The color and shape are everything, but I love the little details too. It has new legs and leather detailing, and with its versatility, it can really be put anywhere - which I LOVE! Loved everything about this showroom!

A new-to-me brand, I loved visiting Bernards Furniture! Bernards is where luxury meets affordability. Their furniture looks and feels expensive, but at fair and budget-friendly price points. It’s American through and through, beautifully crafted furniture that fits effortlessly into any space. My takeaway piece from this showroom was the absolutely beautiful Hartford Writing Desk. It has beautiful detailing on top, and functional drawers and cord holders throughout. A perfect fusion of classic style meeting modern functionality. Love!

This place was a dream. As you walked through, it just kept getting better and better! The fixtures weren’t just lighting, they were pieces of art. I found so many pieces for projects that I’m working on, and couldn’t run faster to set up an account there! Based in the Paris of the Midwest, Regina Andrew was created by a dynamic married duo whose different styles complement each other so perfectly, infusing modern sophistication with vintage charm. My favorite thing (even though I could’ve picked 100) was the Segal Marble Mini Lamp. The scalloped shade, the marble, the cast knob dimmer… I die! In my cart.

Another lighting company that took classic design and made it affordable - Quorum! They are headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, and their products are designed in-house by their award-winning industrial design team. While we were there, we got to meet the lovely Tamara Day, who recently designed a line with them.  My favorite pick from the showroom? Their LOIRE 8-Light Pendant (pictured above in the middle). The lantern shape and the detailing on this pendant was bananas, but what I also loved about it was its indoor/outdoor functionality.  Game changer! Ugh, I can see her now hanging from a wrap-around porch! Just so gorgeous.

Wow, wow, wow. Hudson Valley was something else! Perfectly curated and thoughtfully designed, this showroom was incredible. Something very cool about their showroom was that they allowed the designers they work and collaborate with to design and curate their vignette (if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably already heard me fawn over Cortney Bishop’s, but if not, let me say it was magic). The lighting, the chairs, the rug, the table… perfection! My pick - yes, another pendant of course, the Folly Beach Pendant! There’s a moodiness and tension that’s met with a coastal vibe, and it shines through in this piece and Cortney’s whole collection. What a treat it was to visit this showroom!

Holy moly, this place was a party. Literally, they have a club.  A little neutral for your whimsical, pattern play girl over here, but nonetheless, extraordinary. They’re really the frontrunners in showing how to do modern in an elegant, elevated way. Where color lacks, texture shines, making pieces and rooms stand out in a layered, unique way. If you're going for a more modern feel in your home, which I've had a few clients do, Bernhardt is a place to ask your interior designer to look. So glad I joined the Bernhardt party. Not so much a favorite pick, but my favorite takeaway was, like I said, the use of texture, but also the curvatures and shapes of the furniture. Very unique.

Four Hands was a modern, earthy, elevated wonderland. They are really running this theme of soft brutalism, which blends raw, bold features of brutalism with softer, more inviting elements, and it’s kind of amazing to see. Four Hands was one of the three showrooms we saw that works with Crypton Fabric. Crypton has created an innovative, live-through-anything fabric that can not only weather the storm of kids, pets, and husbands, but also LOOKS and feels incredible. My favorite thing I found during our tour at Four Hands was a fantastic chair (unfortunately, I couldn’t find or remember the name, but check out the photo on the left above). I loved the primitive edge it had, bringing in those earthy, inviting elements that I mentioned before, while maintaining its elegance with the dark wood and classic (yet modern) silhouette. Gorgeous! From the lighting to the furniture to the exterior furniture, Four Hands was incredible!

Hooker Furnishings was another showroom that kept going and going… in the BEST way. Each room was better than the next. My absolute favorite pick from the tour, and the thing that I am using in my next project as soon as possible, was an amazing four-poster canopy bed (pictured above in the middle). Perfect for people who aren't quite yet ready to go like full drapery - it was amazing, and I will be rushing to open an account at Hooker Furnishings.

My oh my, was this place magical. I mean, I just fell in love. From the colors to the textures to the unique details, each room was fantastic and different and wonderful. They also use Crypton Fabric, and unknowingly, one of my favorite chairs was made with Crypton! Special shoutout to Lillian August, I am a fan and was blown away by the vignettes they had in Sherrill’s showroom. A+.

Inviting, layered, textural, warm, elevated… I could go on. Cisco Home was stunning. The showroom itself was an abandoned cotton mill that they acquired in 2003. It was repurposed with a goal of creating a real, experiential “home” to show Cisco’s latest designs, and let me tell you, they accomplished that! I truly could have lived there (especially with the antique store they had upstairs). Handcrafted and sustainably made, each piece was more amazing than the next. My pick was a gorgeous sofa made with Crypton Fabric. The designer of the pattern was at Cisco when we visited, which was such a treat! I loved this piece, and so much of Cisco, because it pays homage to the old, but will withstand the test of time.

They had me the second I spotted their saffron sofa. Mobital is a leading furniture brand, known for its commitment to the creation of high-quality modern furniture. They give life to innovative and classic designs, and set them in a modern and contemporary context. My pick from this showroom? A gorgeous pair of saffron swivel stools. They would be such a cute accent to any living room, or really anywhere, and I just loved them so much. Modern, bold, minimalist… Mobital, you were a dream!

BDI

BDI is living in the future. Everything they make is meant to make your life not only easier, but better. From their extendable nightstands to their standing desks, they’re certainly a frontrunner in innovation when it comes to furniture. My pick from the showroom was their Z Console, which came in three amazing colors. Absolutely gorgeous - and functional! Loved my time at BDI.
